What you’ll actually do
Combine Kruger game drives, the Winelands and Cape Town with expert local guides.
Day by day
Your guide adapts each day to conditions, wildlife and how the group is going — the shape stays, the detail flexes.
Wildlife is free-ranging. Species and sightings vary with season and conditions, and no animal encounter is guaranteed.
Arrive at OR Tambo and transfer to Soweto for an evening orientation walk — one of the most historically significant urban areas in the world.
Full guided Soweto tour — Apartheid Museum, Hector Pieterson Memorial, and an honest conversation about post-Apartheid South Africa with a local guide who grew up here.
Drive northeast through the Lowveld to the gateway towns of Kruger. Afternoon arrival, settle in, and evening game drive along the boundary.
First full day in Kruger. Dawn and dusk game drives with a ranger. The southern section is renowned for lion, leopard, and cheetah sightings.
Second Kruger day — different route, different ecosystem. Drive north toward the central Kruger where elephant herds and buffalo are most concentrated.
Morning drive back to Johannesburg and flight to Cape Town. Afternoon drive to Stellenbosch through the Winelands valleys for first views of the Cape mountains.
A full day in the Winelands with a local guide who knows the history — from the Huguenot heritage of Franschhoek to the farmworker stories that most wine tourists never hear.
Drive to Cape Town via the scenic Chapman's Peak route. Afternoon arrival — first views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic seaboard.
Morning ferry to Robben Island — where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 prison years. Guided by a former political prisoner. The most powerful few hours of the entire trip.
Table Mountain — either the cable car up or a 3-hour hike, depending on the group's fitness. Summit views across two oceans, the Cape Peninsula, and the city. Afternoon: Long Street and vibrant Cape Town food scene.
Full-day Cape Peninsula tour — Cape Point (the meeting of two oceans), Boulders Beach penguins, and the wild Atlantic coast. One of the world's great drive routes.
Final morning in Cape Town — last look at Table Mountain, breakfast in De Waterkant, and transfer to Cape Town International Airport.

Before you ask
Everything on the included list on this page — accommodation, meals as stated, all ground transport, permits and park fees, your guide team, and every activity in the itinerary. International flights, travel insurance, visas and personal spending are not included, and we never add them later.
Message us on WhatsApp for current booking and payment details. It holds your place and is fully refundable if you cancel 90 or more days before departure. The balance is due 8 weeks before you fly, in a single payment.
Most travellers book alone and join a small group. If you'd rather have the trip run privately for you or your friends, tell us in the enquiry and we'll price it — private departures usually work from two people.
Tell us honestly in your enquiry and we'll say honestly whether it's realistic. On trekking routes we'll often suggest a shorter itinerary rather than sell you one you won't enjoy. Nobody is talked into a trip here.
The itinerary length is fixed but start dates are flexible on almost every trip. Give us the window you're working with — term dates, exam finish, a flight you've already found — and we'll build around it.
