Help in the classroom, learn from the community.

Volunteers assist and co-teach alongside local teachers. Placements may be in government or private schools, from kindergarten through secondary level. Activities can include English conversation, reading, numeracy, arts, sport and extracurricular clubs.

Your city and teaching level are matched to your preferences, experience and the places available for your intake. Accommodation is with a host family or in a shared volunteer house.

How the programme usually runs

Daily activities vary by school, city and intake. The in-country coordinator confirms the final week-by-week schedule around two weeks before departure.

  1. 1

Week 1 · Arrival and orientation

Settle in and meet your school

Arrive at Kathmandu airport for pickup and transfer to your accommodation. Orientation covers safety, local customs and basic language. Visit your school, meet the lead teachers and observe classes before beginning assisted teaching.

    • Kathmandu orientation walk and essentials shopping
    • School introduction and curriculum briefing
    • First half-day assisting and shadowing
    • Free weekend with optional cultural visits
  2. 2

Weeks 2 onward · Monday to Friday

    A regular classroom rhythm

Mornings typically include English conversation, reading and phonics support. Afternoons may include numeracy, arts, sport or clubs, followed by lesson planning and a debrief with the host teacher.

    • Breakfast and commute to school
    • Classes, lunch and afternoon activities
    • Teacher debrief and planning
    • Evenings free; optional language lessons may be available
  3. 3

    Weekends · Flexible

Explore or take time to rest

Weekends are generally free for cultural visits, rest and group activities. Optional Poon Hill, Chitwan safari or Everest View extensions depend on the programme length and current availability; ask us what can be arranged.

  4. 4

Final week · Handover and departure

    Leave useful notes behind

Finish your teaching days, hand over notes to school staff, join a farewell event if the school holds one, and complete a debrief with the in-country coordinator. Departure transfer is included.
